One morning in January 2017: I woke up with Mustheb in my mind’s eye; just this ‘word’ and an image.
For me it is quite natural to wake up with pictures in my mind and normally I don’t pay a lot of attention to them. On this special morning something was quite different, and I had a very strong feeling that I had to find out what the word and image wanted to tell me.
I experienced a kind of tingling in my hands and grabbed a book from the shelf to calm down. The book fell to the floor, and I concentrated on the page that had opened accidentally and what can I say - it was a single word I saw: mustard.
Could that be? Should I follow my passion for foody things, making mustard and other delights. I looked up the Parable of the Mustard Seed: »What is the Kingdom of God like? To what shall I compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which you took and put in your own garden. It grew, and became a large tree, and the birds of the sky lodged in its branches.«
At that moment I decided: Mustheb was a budding brand that would grow - Made in the Outer Hebrides.
Can you imagine how that felt? Anyway, from that moment on I couldn’t think about anything else. I focused myself, and every single thing came together and became complete. The idea took more and more shape, and The Hebridean Mustard Company was born.
By the way: that situation reminds me on a Danish movie »Adams æbler« and the book of Hiob. If you saw that movie you know never ever to ignore ‘the signs’.
BTW: The Hebridean Mustard Company receives no funding or help from any Government or council group either to be built or operate.
